24Hour Fitness Holds Wellness Workout/Cookout In Cooperation With Paramus Mayor's Campaign

24 hour Fitness Paramus Paramus Mayor Rich LaBarbiera, a health advocate, spoke to Alvin Walcott, Club Manager of 24Hour Fitness, about holding an outing for the youth of Paramus at the facility located at 260 Route 4 East. He immediately saw the benefit to doing some community service and agreed. On Tuesday, May 22, Alvin Wolcott invited Mayor LaBarbiera and Health Officer/Director Judith Migliaccio to bring some of Paramus youth to the huge facility to work out and learn how to prepare healthy foods. Service Manager Pearl Lunez, Walcott's right arm, was overseeing the event as was Sara Kirkpatrick who came in from the Soho club that she manages.

Empire Beauty School Of Paramus Attended The National Future Professionals Expo In Hershey, PA From May 19-21


There they competed against the other 108 Empire schools from all over the country. Below is a list of the school’s achievements: Student and recent graduate Monique Fitzgerald placed second overall in the women’s trend cut and color category. She competed against over 100 other winners from around the country that were in Hershey representing their Empire locations. Empire Beauty School of Paramus Educator Mrs. Stefanie Rokins was named Region 16 (Northern New Jersey) Educator of the Year.

Empire Beauty School Karen Peterson went from West Brook Middle School to Paramus High School where she teaches Special Education. One could say that she took on a big LEAP which stands for Life Skills, Education, Achievement, Program. The intent of the program is to expose these challenged students to the world and what is necessary for them to function in it. Peterson has broadened the program since moving over.

Funding will allow the department to re-hire eight firefighters, three of them veterans

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ) today announced a $1,530,304 federal Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (S.A.F.E.R.) program grant for the City of Passaic's Fire Department. The funding will allow the department to rehire eight firefighters who were laid off in August 2011. Three of the firefighters served in the Iraq War.
