Before the tribute group Eaglemania’s performance at The Valley Hospital Paramus Bandshell as part of the Terrific Tuesdays Summer Concert Series for a huge audience near the Paramus Public Library on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Pat Verile (left), Associate, High School Admissions, Berkeley College, Woodland Park, and Paramus Council Member, and Rita Jones (right), Chair, Paramus Cultural Arts Council, were happy to receive a donation in the amount of $10,000 from Sharon Goldstein, Campus Operating Officer, Berkeley College Online®, on behalf of Berkeley College. Berkeley College Online recently moved its administrative offices to the Paramus campus. Berkeley College has supported the Paramus Public Library children’s program and Cultural Arts Council for more than a decade.

The Community Chest Awards Nearly $200,000 to 24 Organizations Throughout Bergen County


(Englewood, New Jersey) -- The Community Chest, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization servicing Englewood, Englewood Cliffs and Tenafly, New Jersey, awarded $195,000 in annual grants and The Harriet Tanner Impact Grant to 24 organizations. 

            Founded in 1932, The Community Chest supports local nonprofit organizations serving people in need.  This year's grant recipients provide services to meet peoples' needs of all ages in these categories: health and mental health (25%), children and youth (20%), older adults (18%), arts programming (11%), women (11%), hunger (7%), environment (4%), and volunteer (4%).

Elizabeth Officals Award Commendation To PBA Local #4 For Holiday 5K


Local officials award law enforcement in Elizabeth with a commendation at Elizabeth City Hall on June 27 in recognition of their coordination of the 5th Annual Jingle Bell Run 5K, held at The Mills at Jersey Gardens, New Jersey’s largest outlet and value retail center, in December. The holiday-themed USATF-certified race around-the-mall, hosted in partnership with Elizabeth Police Benevolent Association’s Local #4, included more than 350 runners – decked out in Santa hats and jingle-belled shoes – and raised $15,435 for Children’s Specialized Hospital, the nation’s largest provider of pediatric rehabilitation services, and its ten sites throughout New Jersey.

Bergen, Saint Peter’s Streamline Transfer Opportunities


Officials from Saint Peter’s University and Bergen Community College, including Saint Peter’s President Eugene J. Cornacchia, Ph.D., and Bergen Executive Assistant to the President Ursula Parrish Daniels, Ed.D., met in Paramus July 6 to sign transfer agreements.
PARAMUS, N.J. – Bergen Community College and Saint Peter’s University (Jersey City) have entered into a series of agreements designed to enhance transfer pathways for students between the institutions. Officials signed the agreements at Bergen’s main campus July 6.

Hackensack Riverkeeper Heads to Englewood

Clean water action planned to clean Mackay Park

On Sunday July 31 from 1PM to 4PM Hackensack Riverkeeper will partner with Englewood, New Jersey on a cleanup of the city’s Mackay Park. Riverkeeper volunteers and members of the public will focus on two tributaries of the river that mark two boundaries of the park: Metzler Brook and Overpeck Creek. The cleanup is one of 30 planned for the 2016 season from Clarkstown, NY to Bayonne, NJ. Riverkeeper thanks local company Benzel-Busch Motor Corporation for sponsoring this important volunteer event.

July 20, 2016, Newark, N.J. – Mayor Ras J. Baraka participated today in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the City’s third community storefront located at 216-218 Bloomfield Avenue in the North Ward. Bergen Freeholders Authorize Acceptance of Grant to Fund Early Intervention Services for Children with Developmental Disabilitie

HACKENSACK- The Bergen County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Wednesday adopted Resolution #716-16, authorizing the application and acceptance of a grant in the amount of $1,480,493 from the New Jersey Department of Health to fund Early Intervention Services that seeks to help children with developmental disabilities and delays age 0-3 receive early help and maximize their future potential.
