Center for Hope and Safety 28th Annual Picnic

Center for Hope and Safety hosted its 28th annual family picnic on June 4th. Over three hundred women and children attended this year’s picnic.  The smell of barbecue, music in the air, colorful crafts, great giveaways, smiling clowns, and the sweet taste of ice cream were just a glimpse of what Center For Hope and Safety’s current and former clients enjoyed at this year’s picnic.  The Martial Arts demonstration provided by DP Martial Arts Academy of Westwood as well as an African Drum demonstration by Yahya Kamate' from Center For Modern Dance delighted everyone.

Intensive searching brought her to the Cooktique store in Tenafly  located at 9 W. Railroad Avenue. Her sense of artistry saw this overcrowded, overstuffed gadget store as the perfect outlet for the higher class merchandise that she had become accustomed to dispense. Boldly striking out, along with her family and enlisting the aid of her friends, Karine purchased the store and began to gradually change its demeanor. Bergen Family Center and National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section Announce Expanded Infant-Toddler Program

High Schoolers Find “Write” Words in College Contest

PARAMUS, N.J. – From more than 250 submissions of high school juniors and seniors, six Bergen County students claimed first-place honors in the 40th annual Bergen County High School Writing Contest sponsored by the Bergen Community College English department. The contest, co-directed by Bergen professors Geoffrey Sadock, Ph.D., and Peter Helff, featured six categories of submissions – scholarly essay, poetry, personal essay, short story, drama and recent American – judged by Bergen faculty. The work of 18 finalists became part of the College’s literary journal, “Pegasus,” published annually in June. The first place winners are, from left:
