Fritz takes pride in showing the artifacts including one of the first electric washing machines. After the clothes were soaked, one had to lift the basket from horizontal to near vertical to spin out the water. Near to that is a carpet sweeper and also flat irons. He proudly shows the origins of the microwave oven, a small stove that one put over the fire to warm the contents.
In addition to the main level, there is also a font of data and displays on the lower level. Fritz showed a video of Paramus on a large TV screen that is well worth sitting for. He has offered to bring this video along to show people at the Walter Behnke Senior Housing Complex which is named for his brother. When asked, Fritz mentioned that Walter is not doing well and may not be with us too long.
One of the pictures that is in the museum is a picture of the Bergen Pines Hospital. If you would like to know how it got its name? . ask Fritz or stay tuned.
