Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe
Under the aegis of Lillian, Barbara & Murray, Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe celebrates their 29th anniversary today, March 15, 2006. Located at 330 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell, this Mama/Papa store still has a rotary dial wall phone, no cash register or adding machine. Everything is calculated using brain power.

Working on consignment only, this little shop caters to men, women and children, something for everyone. Mom Lillian Kessler was a housewife with time on her hands. She happened to visit Ye Olde Thrift Shoppe one day and after chatting with the owner, made arrangements to purchase the store 29 years ago.

At that time her offspring, Carol, Barbara and Howard were old enough not to need all her care. Today Barbara helps out in the store and Howard is a chiropractor in Hillsdale. Lillian has enough faith in Barbara’s capabilities that she now comes in for the afternoon hours.

If you are interested in visiting this quaint little shop, it is directly across from the Oradell Fire Department on Kinderkamack Road. Their hours are Tuesday – Friday from 9AM to 4 PM. Consignment hours are from 10:30 AM to 12:45 PM. On Saturday they are open from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM with consignment hours from 10:30 – 11:30. They can be reached at 201 261 4247.
