Paramus Police Memorial Service With Police precision, the Paramus Ceremonial Honor Guard Color Team came marching in to start the memorial services. Police Chaplain Leo J. Butler said the Invocation and we were welcomed by PBA Local 186 Vice President Detective Rob Von Schalscha who acted as the Master of Ceremonies.

Rob introduced Chief of Police Frederick J. Corrubia to the approximately 200 people in attendance. He was followed by Mayor James J. Tedesco and then Herbert Carlough, the son of the honored departed police officer, Lt. Harry F. Carlough who died in the line of duty January 15th, 1956. retired Captain Emil Setmayer also added to the memories of Lt. Harry Carlough.

Mayor Tedesco gave Herbert Carlough a mayoral commendation and proclaimed that the week of May 28th would be Lt. Harry Carlough week and Jockish Square would be renamed Harry Carlough Square for that week.

Mentioned were other officers that had passed on including Police Officer Michael P. McEllen and Police Officer Vincent M. Brock.

In an impressive ceremony, Taps were played in the distance, a wreath was presented and then we heard the sound of bagpipes by Detective Robert Olive playing Amazing Grace. The benediction was pronounced by Deacon Joseph Niland, closing remarks by VP Rob Von Schalscha and we were invited to partake of food that had been provided by Bensi restaurant at Paramus Park.
