Prestigious Award Senator Joseph Coniglio took time out from pressing state budget problems to visit the Paramus Mayor and Council meeting on the 27th of June to present a NJ State Senate Resolution to Jessica Diamond. Mayor James Tedesco followed with a Certificate of Commendation. Jessie, as she prefers to be known, received the prestigious 2006 Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
Checking with Councilwoman Connie Wagner, a high school guidance
counselor, Connie remarked that never in her 24 years in education has
she encountered a student who had received this award. Of course
Jessie’s parents, Marty and Julie Diamond were bursting with pride as
was their other daughter Lindsay.
This middle school student acknowledges that none of this would have
been possible without the help of fellow members of their React Club,
Advisor Karen Peterson and Principal Bill Freeman. It was not a single
person accomplishment!
To explain this award, we will publish the Senate Resolution:
Whereas, The Senate of the State of New Jersey is pleased to honor and congratulate Jessica Diamond, an admired resident of the garden State, as the recipient of the 2006 Prudential Spirit of Community Award recognizing her praiseworthy and exemplary efforts in behalf of the community-at-large; and,
Whereas, This prestigious accolade, presented by the Prudential Insurance Company of America in partnership with the national Association of Secondary School Principals, acknowledges middle school and high school volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their community and,
Whereas, Jessica Diamond, who is an outstanding seventh grade student at West Brook Middle School in Bergen County, will receive a silver medallion, $1,000 and an all expense paid trip to the national event in Washington, D.C. and,
