Paramus July 4 Parade - a reverse view
At 7:45 AM, the chimes of Our Lady of Visitation started ringing forth, first with a religious tune and then branched out into patriotic songs. That was the unofficial start of the celebration planned by Rich Siniscalchi and his Committee. Today was also the culmination of the four day town wide celebration of the holiday.
Your staff at www.ParamusPost.com did a double team effort. Sam Stone
took pictures of the floats down at Midland avenue and Mel Fabrikant
took pictures of the audience from the interior of the 1961 black
Cadillac in the parade, courtesy of Laganella Management Company. Tell
your friends and neighbors to look for themselves on the web site.

At the grandstand, Mayor Tedesco announced the winners of the various contests and also praised the PHS championship all girls Volley Ball team. He then started the 1st hot dog eating contest for the benefit of an ailing young resident. I was standing next to the Police Department contestants and can tell you that they put up a valiant fight. Of course, being police officers, they not only received financial donations, but also donated some of the hot dogs back to the audience. The kids present were thrilled.
The winner of that contest was a dog, mascot of the Fire Department. Once again, this year the Fire Department triumphed over the Police Department.
