Heat Wave & Thunderstorm Threat doesn’t stop Paramus Music Lovers

Paramus Music Lovers Valerie Coniglio, in the face of storm weather predictions, moved the scheduled event to the IBEW Hall on Robin Road. She and her crew set up 575 chairs in the air-conditioned hall and about 25 went unfilled, a wise decision. Playing Tuesday evening were Kenny Vance and the Planotones, a delightful ensemble playing Doo Wop music from the 1950’s and early 60’s.
Their music went over so well that many times the audience gave them a standing ovation. They also danced to several numbers as well as partaking in the finger snapping and the clapping to the tunes being played.

One member of the audience, a senior citizen by the name of Ben, was so enthralled that he did what Kenny Vance dubbed “The Planotone Walk”. He shuffled past the bandstand several times moving his shoulders, arms, legs and feet in tune to the music. Kenny picked up on it and played to the audience.

Some of the songs in their repertoire are: In the Still of the Night, Please Don’t Ask Me to Love You, Devil or Angels, Bingo Prelude, I Want To, Life is but a Dream. Wisdom of a Fool, Hard to Say Goodbye, It’s Alright and their signature song Looking for an Echo.

Donna Perkosky, PR Director of the Paramus Library, greeted the visitors with a great big smile and handed them the Paramus Cultural Arts Council schedule for the season, an excellent bookmark.

Among the regular attendees were Senator Joseph Coniglio, Councilman Lou Romano and Terry, his wife, Councilwoman Concetta (Connie) Wagner and Rich, her husband, Teri Duda, Rich Conte, Sr., Sam and Elaine Casiello, Paul Maramaldi and other members of the Paramus Cultural Council along with their families.
