Dr. Michael Yuen, Family Dentist
My good friend, Dr. Michael (Mike) Yeun has been in the same location, 366 Forest Avenue in Paramus for over 20 years. His corner is known for the white tooth on his lawn depicting his location. He came across this location through a fellow church member and has stayed there.
Mike graduated from UMDNJ in 1984, did a little apprenticing and then came to our town.
He started down the street and then moved to his present location where he is assisted by his aide, Christine. When asked how he keeps up to date, Dr. Yeun replied that he takes courses, attends seminars to "sharpens his skills" and reads a lot of manuals and trade journals. His equipment is always the latest. I should know, having been one of Mike Yeun's patients for years.
This dentist works 5 days a week from 9:30 AM to varied hours of the day. While he is always on call for emergencies, should he be away, there is always a backup dentist on call. We discussed approximately how many patients he would see in a day. This conscientious man feels that no more than 15 to 20 patients in a day. Anymore and he is of the opinion that he cannot do justice to them, cannot give them the time and care that they deserve.
Civic minded, for years he has donated his time to Health Day once a year to check for oral cancers.
A Taiwanese American, Dr. Yeun is an avid supporter of his heritage. If one checks back in the www.ParamusPost.com files, they will see a bus trip to Washington D.C. that I was invited to attend, and previously we also had run an article about the political protest. Mike Yeun espouses these causes. A religious man, he attends church every Sunday, Taiwanese of course, although it is Taiwanese American.
Among his hobbies and delights, besides 20 year old daughter Christina who is going to Graphic Design School, are exercise, swimming, reading, watching TV, listening to music, hiking and bicycling.
