We did it for you
Mayor Tedesco, Tax Assessor James Anzevino along with Chris Stellatos and Rose Whitehead from his office presented an introduction to the new Paramus home improvement loans for Senior home owners and Tenants to the Pioneer Club at the Senior Center. The Mayor stressed that this is not coming from the taxpayer’s pocket, but is funded by assessments on new building from developers and used for affordable housing or home improvements.
Jim Anzevino explained some of the whys and wherefores to the 110 member club in a down to earth and sometimes jocular manner. He invited anyone with questions to contact him at the Borough office if they had problems understanding his presentation.
Mayor Tedesco also fielded questions about what would be covered; some very astute questions were asked. The team put across the fact that this was for improvements, not new construction which not only wasn’t eligible, but would result in a tax increase. This 10 year interest free loan could be used for repairing or replacing existing conditions and applied to air conditioning, window, insulation, driveways, siding, roofs, painting, structural, gutters, steps and sidewalks just to mention a few.
Income qualifications were given as well as the fact that after 10 years the loan would be forgiven. If a party did not stay at that residence for the required time, a prorated assessment would be made. Anzevino’s staff passed out forms listing the financial requirements and the areas covered.
