基督教三一堂在北新泽西开张华人服务
Services are conducted in Chinese, in the Reformed Tradition. While the language spoken is Chinese, they do welcome visitors. This is attributable to personal experience. Not only did they give a warm welcome to me, but also to Evelyn and Bill, regular members of the Trinity Presbyterian congregation. After services, we were treated to a delicious Burmese noodle soup prepared by Sam“s wife, Sophie. If nothing else, that alone made attendance worthwhile.
When Mr. Jiaji (pronounced Gee ah gee) Sun was asked about his training, it was very interesting. 10 years ago, he studied at Princeton Theological Seminary, and went back to mainland China, in particular Nanjing. Then he went for a further study in Birmingham, England 3 years ago. While in England he learned that a congregation in NY -- "First Chinese Presbyterian Church of New York City," needed a pastor. He applied and was accepted. Linda, his wife, their teenage daughter and he made the momentous move back to the states.
After his contracted term ended in NYC, Sun was invited to New Jersey to launch the Chinese ministry at the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Paramus to serve the growing Chinese population in North Jersey. An unexpected benefit came from this transition! They are now the proud parents of a cute 6 month old boy. One forgets that in China, parents are limited to only one child. At age 43, Jiaji Sun can be proud of his accomplishments and his family.

PS: I asked Sam Stone to translate the title into Chinese characters. Our ever resourceful and innovate editor did just that!
