McNERNEY / FILM COMMISSION TO PRESENT FILM FESTIVAL


Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney and the Fort Lee Film Commission are proud to present the second annual Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow Film Festival. Dedicated to nurturing and inspiring the next generation of filmmakers, this festival serves to introduce the works of high school-aged filmmakers in Bergen County with leading members of the film community. The film festival is open to all Bergen County High School age students. Please call (201) 592-3663 for further information. October 12 at 7 pm: Screening of student films at the Bergen Academies Auditorium at 200 Hackensack Avenue in Hackensack. The audience will take part in voting for the Audience Choice Award. Admission free.

October 13 at 7 pm at the Cedar Lane Theatre in Teaneck: Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow Program on Film Restoration and New Filmmakers Series: - Tickets $10 at the box office the night of the program. 

Program 1: East Coast premiere of Fort Lee Film Commission restored 35mm color tinted print of the earliest surviving American film version of "Robin Hood". This film was produced in Fort Lee in 1912 at Eclair Studios. The film restoration team led by Sirk Productions' Marc Perez will introduce the program. Fuji Films is the major sponsor of this restoration project. Jeff Barker of The galaxy Theatre will provide live music.

Program 2: 10,000 Kids and a Cop restoration and New Film: Marc Perez and Tom Meyers to discuss the restoration of this Lou Costello produced 1948 film in conjunction with the centennial of Lou's birth this year. Also to be screened is the Fort Lee Film Commission produced "Lou Costello Project" made with the teenagers of the Lou Costello Center in East Los Angeles.

November 10: An Evening with Academy Award Winning Actress Celeste Holm:

Celeste Holm will appear live in person for this 50th anniversary screening of her hit 1956 film "High Society" starring Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. The program starts at 7pm at the Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, NY. Tickets $10 at the box office the night of the program.

November 11: Fort Lee Film Commission / Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow Awards Dinner Dance 6pm-11pm at the Hilton Hotel on Route 4 East in Fort Lee. Tickets $100. The Film Commission will present Academy Award winning actress and one of the founders of the New Jersey state film commission Celeste Holm with the 2006 Barrymore Award. Past recipients include Academy Award winning film editor Thelma Schoonmaker, actor/director Peter Riegert and actress Lorraine Bracco. The winners of the 2006 Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow Film Festival will be announced at the dinner dance. The entertainment will be provided by the Jersey based group The Nerds.
