Westfield Garden State Plaza will donate $1,000 to the Paramus Fire Department for the purchase of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for Paramus senior citizens during National Fire Prevention Week at a brief ceremony on Monday, October 9th at 12:30 p.m. in the Lord & Taylor court.
The detectors will supplement the existing Borough program, where the Fire Department installs detectors as needed in senior citizens’ homes as they are answering routine calls.
In addition, Westfield Garden State Plaza will salute the Paramus Volunteer Fire Department at the ceremony and will match and donate all fountain donations collected for the month of October to the organization, which currently has 150 members. The money will go towards equipment and other necessities.
“This is such an appropriate week to say “thank you†to the Paramus Volunteer Fire Departmentâ€, said Phillip St. Pierre, Senior General Manager of Westfield Garden State Plaza. “Our entire community relies on these volunteers to protect and safeguard us, so Westfield is extremely pleased to participate in donating and raising funds for their organization.â€
