On Monday, January 8th, at 12:30pm, the Paramus Public Library presents a screening and discussion of "Top Hat", the 1935 classic film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
Deemed one of the best of the Astaire-Rogers musicals, "Top Hat" centers on a mistaken-identity plot, with wealthy Dale Tremont (Rogers), on holiday in London and Venice, assuming that American entertainer Jerry Travers (Astaire) is the husband of her friend Madge (Helen Broderick). The Irving Berlin score includes "Cheek to Cheek," "Isn't it a Lovely Day?," and the jaunty title song. The film received Oscar nominations for a Best Picture, Art Direction, Dance Direction and Berlin's song "Cheek to Cheek." Bring your lunch at 12:30pm. Coffee/tea provided. Film starts at 1:00pm with discussion following. Come to the library's meeting room, Paramus Public Library, 116 E. Century Rd. For more information, please call 201-599-1300.
