Professor Baila Zheutlin, of Paramus, is the 2006 recipient of the New Jersey Community College Counseling Association Award for Counselor Excellence—an annual award that recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of a community college counselor. Criteria for the award include: implementing counseling interventions that have significantly contributed to the success of students, and counselor performance that has made a significant impact in the lives of students.
“Professor Zheutlin has dedicated many years to serving our students and supporting the entire Bergen community. She is a role model and mentor to many of us who work with her,†said Darleen McGrath Florance, Director of Student Development, who nominated Professor Zheutlin for the award. “Her performance as a counselor, especially in the work she does for transfer students, is exemplary.â€
Professor Zheutlin—who began her tenure at Bergen in 1976—is a graduate of Montclair State University (M.A.) and Radcliffe College (B.A.).
Bergen Community College is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling more than 14,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs, and certificate programs.
