Paramus, N.J. - January 16, 2007 – Yesterday Westfield Garden State Plaza hosted over twenty supermodel finalists for a day of shopping before they hit the catwalk on Wednesday to compete for a $250,000 contract with Ford Models. The aspiring models from all over the world spent the afternoon shopping for fashions, beauty products and souvenirs at Westfield’s 285 stores.
Favorite destinations included Nordstrom, H&M, Armani A/X, Sabon, Steve Madden and Swarovski.
The shopping event at Westfield Garden State Plaza was part of the planned pre-event activities that finalists participate in before the competition culminates on Wednesday, January 17th with a runway show featuring all 46 finalists wearing collections from six up-and-coming Australian designers. Ford Models Inc. in conjunction with G’Day USA’s Australia Week, Westfield and Nexxus Salon Hair Care will host the event at New York’s Skylight Studios, where the 2006 – 2007 Ford Supermodel of the World winner will be announced.
Ford Models has been hosting this global search event for more than 25 years. This year, the event is being held as part of G’Day USA’s Australia Week 2007, a festival from January 11 –20th, showcasing all things Australian, including food and wine, travel, film, arts, culture, fashion and business. Westfield, the largest retail property group in the world, is celebrating the company’s Australian roots by sponsoring various G’Day USA activities, including the Ford Models Supermodel of the World event, the major fashion component of the New York festivities.
