The Buehler Columbia Amateur Astronomer’s Association at Bergen Community College will be opening the Emil Buehler Trust Observatory to the public for free observations of celestial objects every Saturday evening from 8:00 -11:00 p.m.

The Observatory is in the Technology Education Center at the College, 400 Paramus Road, Paramus. Attendees should enter the Center from parking lot B. Public observations will be cancelled when the weather involves precipitation.

The Emil Buehler Trust Observatory is equipped with two permanent 16-inch reflecting telescopes and a third 16-inch portable telescope designed for accessibility by disabled students. The Observatory is made available to the community at large and supplements the outstanding resources of the Buehler Challenger Space and Science Center, which is also located on the College campus.

Those interested in becoming members of the Buehler Columbia Amateur Astronomer’s Association, or those with additional questions about the observations, should speak to one of the members at this event, or e-mail Dr. Roger Opstbaum, Professor of Physics and Faculty Liaison of the Association at ropstbaum@bergen.edu. Annual dues for Association membership are $20, which includes admission to all “members-only” nights, occurring the last Friday of each month in the Observatory. More information can also be found on the College’s Web site at http://www.bergen.edu/buehler.

Bergen Community College is a public two-year coeducational college, enrolling more than 14,000 students in Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degree programs, and certificate programs.
