New Statewide Campaign Sponsored by the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors Collects Gloves, Hats and Scarves for The Salvation Army Just in time for the harsh winter weather, members of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC) have joined together to launch a statewide program to collect gloves, hats and scarves for New Jersey's neediest residents.
The "Baby It's Cold Outside"(r) campaign runs from February 1 through February 22. Participating member chiropractors throughout the state are accepting donations of any of these new or used items in good condition for The Salvation Army. A list of participating New Jersey chiropractors and office locations is available at www.anjc.info. (Public Website Link)
Special containers for collecting gloves, hats and scarves will be located in the waiting rooms of participating ANJC member chiropractors' offices during the drive. At its conclusion, all clothing items donated will be picked up by The Salvation Army and donated to needy individuals throughout the northern, central and southern regions of the state.
"As an organization, we are committed to supporting the communities where our members live and work," said ANJC Executive Director Dr. Sigmund Miller. "Now that winter and winter weather has set in, this is an ideal time to collect these items of clothing that are so important to people's health and safety when it's frigid outside. Our goal with 'Baby It's Cold Outside'(r) is to provide a little warmth to the people in New Jersey who need it the most."
Most people wear warmer coats and layers to cover their body's core during the winter; however the primary areas of heat loss are the head and hands. "With increased exposure this time of year to colds and the flu, keeping your body and immune system as healthy as possible through Chiropractic care is key," continued Miller. "Though we cannot help every community member as a patient, we hope this program will help them as fellow citizens."
The Association of New Jersey Chiropractors plans to make the "Baby It's Cold Outside"(r) campaign an on-going annual effort and to expand its scope in the coming years. In addition, the organization will be introducing a series of new public service and public education programs for New Jersey citizens in the near future.
About the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors The ANJC is one of the largest associations of chiropractors in the nation with more than 1,300 members throughout the state. The mission of the ANJC is to educate its members in the latest technology and advancements in the profession, and to educate the public about benefits of chiropractic care. About The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army's membership consists of 3500 officers, 60,000 employees, 113,000 soldiers, 430,000 adherents, and more than 3.5 million volunteers.
The basic social services developed by William Booth have remained an outward visible expression of the Army's strong religious principles. In addition, new programs that address contemporary needs have been established. Among these are disaster relief services, day care centers, summer camps, holiday assistance, services for the aging, AIDS education and residential services, medical facilities, shelters for battered women and children, family and career counseling, vocational training, correction services, and substance abuse rehabilitation. More than 30 million a year are aided in some form by services provided by The Salvation Army.
Salvation Army fund-raising campaigns are conducted on a local and regional basis. There is no fund-raising at the national level. The normal source of funds are the traditional Christmas kettle campaigns, direct-mail programs, corporate and foundation gifts, planned giving, and government contracts. In most areas, The Salvation Army is a member agency of local affiliates of the United Way of America where such affiliation has proven to be beneficial to The Salvation Army. The organization's stewardship of its funding is noted throughout philanthropy; 83 cents of every dollar collected by the Army goes directly to client service, among the highest percentages of any non-profit in the world.
