Mayor & Council Meeting 3-27-07

The Tuesday evening meeting was sparsely attended with mostly regulars like Mark Distler, Ed Onorato, Sam & Elaine Casiello. Rich Wagner, Janis Kohl and a few others. Missing were regulars like Flo Pappas. Rose Whitehead, Irving Gall and Robert VonSchalscha. Among the Council Members and the Mayor’s Reports were items about events in town. This Saturday, March 31st, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 Pm, West Brook Middle School React Club (Rotary) is holding a Garage Sale on location at 550 Roosevelt Boulevard. The Paramus Scholarship Show (which I was instrumental in introducing years ago) will present “Dancin in the Streets: A Motown Story” on Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th, taking place at 8:00 PM. This event has been transferred to Paramus Catholic High School on Paramus Road due to PHS construction. Jeanne Weber can be contacted at 201 265 2180 for tickets.

Project Graduation is holding a Spring Craft Show on Sunday, April 15th from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the Paramus High School. This is a fund raiser for Project Graduation. A worthy cause that helps keep our graduates safe. An Easter Egg Hunt will be conducted on Saturday, March 31st at Petruska Park. Preschoolers at 10:00 AM; Kindergarteners at 10:30 AM and First Grade and up at 11:00 AM. There is a rain date which, if needed can be checked at 201 265 9321, the Recreation Office answering machine.

Further into the future will be the 50th anniversary of Paramus High School kicking off with a Football Game under the lights at 7 PM versus Barringer High School. A special Alumni welcome area opens at 5 PM. More about this at a later date.

Mayor Tedesco discussed the feasibility of giving away free firewood to residents. As a Tree City for 31 years, there is much wood in town. The cost factors have to be considered. The Borough is giving away free mulch, a popular program.
