Women of Achievement Awards Dinner

Women of Achievement The Girl Scout Council of Bergen County held its 27th annual Women of Achievements Awards Dinner on Thursday, March 29th at Seasons. The Girl Scouts also celebrated 95 years of Leadership and Service developing young women with the necessary skills to make a difference in their world. 

Honorees were: Jennifer Ashton, MD; Donnett Barnett; Maxine Frampton; Carol W. Greene and Elaine Walsh (Juliette Low Award).

Girl Scout Council of Bergen County Board of Directors President Rosa Bland welcomed everyone on behalf of the Board as did Carol J. Komenda-Sprague, CEO of the Girl Scout Council. Some of the more prominent attendees that I recognized were: Judith Winn, President of Bergen Community College, Valerie Vainieri-Huttle, Assemblywoman and my good friend Michael Kurzawski, VP Greater Community Bank and a member of the Girl Scout BOD.

Proceeds from this annual dinner help support Services and Programs for over 13,000 Girl Scouts. The Girl Scout Promise - On my honor, I will try: To serve God and my country, To help people at all times, And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law – I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong and responsible for what I say and do -- and to -- respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout.

In a very large ad journal, some of the recognitions were from Governor Jon S. Corzine, State Senator Loretta Weinberg, State Senator Joseph Coniglio, Anthony Cardinale, Edward J. Nekel, Captain, PPD, Elaine Adler, Adler Aphasia Center, Bob & Marianne Dill, The Rink in Montvale and Kevin Behnke, Paramus Building Supply.

As usual Seasons catered a lavish cocktail hour to a large capacity group and a delicious buffet dinner catering to all kinds of tastes. Jay Leone of Seasons was busy throughout the evening making sure that the patrons were satisfied. The dinner was followed by Season’s Viennese Table.
