Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raffle off Airline Tickets

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation kicks-off of National CF Awareness Month in Westfield Garden State Plaza by selling raffle tickets to win two Continental Airline tickets and two Westfield Gift Cards. Tickets can be purchased every Friday and Saturday from 10 am – 9:30 pm in Macy’s court until the final drawing on Saturday, May 19th at 5 pm in Macy’s Court. All proceeds will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Greater New Jersey Chapter. In addition, Westfield will also donate all money collected from their fountain during the month of May to the CF Foundation.
Cystic fibrosis is a chronic and life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. More than ten million Americans are unknowing, symptom-less carriers of one copy of the defective CF gene; however, it takes two copies of the gene for a child to be born with CF. Prompt, aggressive treatment of the symptoms of CF can extend the lives of those who have the disease. The median age of survival for people with CF has tripled in the past few decades, from early childhood in the 1950s to the mid-30s today, thanks to progress in CF research and care.

Westfield Garden State Plaza will be participating in a fundraising walk on Sunday, May 20th to support the foundation, programs and research. The Foundation relies solely on the generosity of individuals and corporations to help fund its lifesaving research and specialty care programs. With an active drug discovery and development pipeline, the CF Foundation currently supports more than two-dozen potential therapies, any one of which could dramatically improve the lives of those with CF.
