Mayor Tedesco was absent, attending the graduation from college of his daughter. Council President Frank Ciambrone was also absent so the task of leading the meeting fell to Councilwoman Connie Wagner. Councilman Rich LaBarbiera made a motion to change the meeting time of May 29th to start at 5 PM. When queried, he mentioned that there was a special event that the council members wanted to attend. Councilwoman Wagner was being feted with a retirement dinner, she is retiring from Paramus High as a Guidance Counselor.
Councilman Hayo mentioned that lightning alerts were being installed at the municipal golf course. This was amplified by LaBarbiera who said that it is being carried further to the sports fields. Councilman Conte mentioned that there will be a Memorial Day Parade.
Residents of Paramus Road came before the group to protest unsatisfactory conditions resulting from a house built there. Cited were soggy conditions and landscaping problems. Dennis Oury explained that the DEP permits came first before the Borough’s actions and that the matter would have to be discussed with them. He did offer to go over details with the residents.
Save Our Wetlands, Mark Distler got up during the open discussion period and read a volume concerning activity there. Ed Onorato spoke about the problems as well.
