West Brook Middle School
These were the words spoken by Mayor James Tedesco, after conferring with the Borough Attorney, to a standing room only Council meeting. Paramus residents are concerned with the findings that there is contaminated soil at West Brook Middle School in Paramus. One after the other, they approached the dais and spoke their piece. A patient Mayor allowed everyone who wished to say something their opportunity.
Council President Frank Ciambrone, Councilmen Rich LaBarbiera and Rich Conte were appointed to a committee to investigate these complaints. Mayor Tedesco explained that as soon as he heard about the problem on Thursday, the Borough contacted the DEP to alert them. In turn, they assigned a case number. Senator Joseph Coniglio, who was on hand at the meeting attested to the fact that he was 100% behind the Mayor and the people and that he would contact the DEP on our behalf.
The Mayor cited the incident recently where he had closed businesses along the Route 17 rim due to health reasons. He likened this situation to the same reason . the health of the people of Paramus.
