The month of June is Aphasia Awareness Month. Aphasia is a condition that affects speech and communication due to brain injury mainly from stroke. It is a frustrating condition for those who suffer from it. Although Aphasia is a loss of language it is not a loss of intellect.

In June, the Adler Aphasia Center and Park Avenue BMW are asking area residents to speak out for those who can’t and proudly display a FREE car magnet that reads “APHASIA Loss of Language NOT Intellect” on their car through the end of July to help raise awareness about aphasia.

To receive a car magnet, please call or visit the center at 60 West Hunter Ave., Maywood , Monday – Thursday between 9am am and 5pm. Car magnets will also be available at several local merchants in downtown Maywood. For further information about the center call 201-368-8585 or visit the website at www.adleraphasiacenter.org.
