Lucky Winner
The winning ticket was drawn on Saturday, June 16th in the Neiman Marcus Court at Westfield Garden State Plaza.
The Diabetes Foundation of NJ successfully raised over $100,000 selling raffle tickets for the non-profit organization and will be used to offset the cost for under-privileged children to attend Camp Nejeda, a summer camp for diabetic children that teaches them how to take better care of themselves and manage the disease. “Jack Daniels Porsche supported the first Diabetes Foundation car raffle eighteen years ago”, said Jack Daniels, CEO of Jack Daniels Motors,” and it is our privilege to once again partner with The Diabetes Foundation of NJ and Westfield Garden State Plaza to raise awareness and necessary funds for this worthy cause.”
“Westfield Garden State Plaza is pleased to collaborate with both Jack Daniels Motors and the Diabetes Foundation of NJ in this community initiative,” said Phillip St. Pierre, Senior General Manager of Westfield Garden State Plaza. “We are ecstatic that the raffle was so successful and that the funds will directly benefit the children that need it.” Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.
There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. One in every 400 to 600 children and adolescents has type 1 diabetes. The Diabetes Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals and corporations to help fund its lifesaving research and specialty care programs. In addition to the raffle, shoppers can visit the Neiman Marcus Court at Westfield Garden State Plaza to encounter the Jack Daniels Porsche Experience, which is comprised of an interactive display that allows shoppers to build and create their own Porsche, two state-of-the-art cars and accessory displays.
