The students and residents of Paramus will be safe

These were the words of Mayor James Tedesco as he addressed the miniscule amount of attendees of the Mayor and Council meeting. Miniscule because the month before when the school soil crisis was brought to light, there was standing room only in the audience. The mayor outlined all the steps that have been taken in the interim, the soil and air testing, the conferences and the results.
He went into detail about the testing and thanked Senator Coniglio for bringing forth at the state level, the need for all the Boards of Education to work closely with their towns, especially when doing construction. One of the steps he has worked out is to name several health testing organizations and urged anyone feeling the need for testing to go to them, use their medical insurance and stated that the Board of Education will pick up any difference not covered.
Although results are still pending, Mayor Tedesco declared that until the schools are deemed safe, nobody will be allowed to enter, even if it goes well into September. He cited the need to know; the need to take action and promised the people of Paramus that they will be kept informed.
While praising the past work of Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Janice Dime, he called for her to resign as well as other unnamed higher echelon personnel so that Paramus can move forward and maintain the excellence that it has always achieved. He stressed that every member of the Council had either attended the Paramus School system or, as in the case of Councilwoman Wagner, worked for the school system.
