The initiative involves two programs, Nurse Family Partnership, which targets first-time mothers and families, and Healthy Families, which serves parents who have other children and may be overburdened by specific stressors known to contribute to the risk of child abuse and neglect. POST ADOPTION CONTRACT AND PERMANENCY SUPPORT SERVICES

Children who are adopted often struggle with a sense of loss and trauma which can lead to behavioral and developmental problems. To help minimize the difficulties for adopted kids, DCF is funding a Post Adoption Contract (PAC) program which is a network of contracted agencies with adoption expertise that will help adoptive families access a variety of adoption-related support services. DCF will expand the support services it currently funds to two specific populations: (1) adopted teens and (2) children who leave the DYFS system through Kinship Legal Guardianship (KLG). These services may include in-home counseling, group support, coaching/mentoring, family advocacy and family respite.
