Bud Palmer & Lou Sciara did a live act imitation of their look alikes, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello at the Garden State Plaza Band Shell on Tuesday. They were followed by a movie featuring, of course, Abbott & Costello. This was an experiment by the Paramus Cultural Council giving the residents a change of pace from the musical presentations.
Bud and Lou did a lot of the comic shtick including ‘Who’s on first?’ plus many other known offerings. This duo has appeared from Panama City, FL to Cooperstown, NY with many appearances in Paterson, Costello’s home town. 'Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein', the film shown, is rated as the best film they ever made
Playing to a slightly smaller audience, the act and film were well received. A pleasant surprise was the number of youngsters that were enjoying the offering plus the opportunity to run around in the open space; a family outing. This fulfills the intent of having all residents involved..
Chairwoman Valerie Coniglio gave special mention to the young woman who wrote to The Record praising the Cultural Council’s presentations. Coniglio also mentioned several places for the residents to check to see if a show has been cancelled or moved. She neglected to mention www.ParamusPost.com the fastest game in town with more visitations than other websites.
