Paramus Rotary Donates

At the regular Thursday luncheon meeting of the Paramus Rotary Club held at Seasons, several donations were made. A check for $8,000.00 was presented to the National Guard in Teaneck for families of National Guard soldiers both abroad and returning. They have a need for basics: food, diapers etc.

Today was Food Donation Day and many Rotarians brought in bags of non-perishable foods for donation to the Paramus Department of Human Services Food Bank. Irene Maury, the Director, was on hand to receive the bags delivered by Rotarian Kevin Behnke. In addition, Rotary President Maryann Sinsicalchi helped sort things out as did Councilwoman Connie Wagner, Mayoral Secretary Flo Pappas and several youth volunteers. Read our follow up story.

Caroline Suh, a past scholarship recipient, thanked Paramus Rotary for her scholarship. It is difficult to believe that Caroline will be starting her 4th year at the University of Chicago. What is easier to believe is that many of these scholarship recipients don’t forget Rotary and many have joined Rotary International as a result of their fond experiences.

The speaker for today was Kathi Meding representing the YMCA of Ridgewood. Explaining their various programs, both in Ridgewood and overseas, Kathi had to field varied questions from the approximately 65 members present.

1) If I belong to the Ridgewood YMCA, am I automatically a member of every YMCA’s across the country?
2) Do I have to join to go swimming?
3) What are the pool hours?
4) Is there an individual membership as well as a family one?
5) How are the volunteers who participate in your building programs trained?
6) Do you rely on government grants?
7) How do you get your funding?
8) What is Camp Bernie?
