Mother Seton Council #5427 of the Knights of Columbus will once again host its Annual Charity Picnic on Sunday, September 9, 2007. Open to everyone, this rain or shine event will run from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the K of C Pfliegler Pavilion and Picnic Grove in the rear of 79 Pascack Road, Township of Washington. The festivities will include lots of activities for children and adults.
The menu will include chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and peppers, salad, watermelon, soft drinks, coffee, and adult beverages.
Adult tickets purchased in advance are $20.00, $25.00 at the gate. There is a 15% discount ($17.00) for seniors (60+) when purchased in advance. Children 5 to 12 are $5.00 and kids under 5 are free. There is a family cap of $45.00 for parents and children under 21. Picnic tables are available on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may be purchased at the Council in the Members Room, Monday through Friday between 3:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information call the Council at 201-664-0422.
Profits will go to assist those less fortunate in the local area. K of C member Knights volunteer their time and energies for all charitable events.
The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, Connecticut, by Fr. Michael J. McGivney. It is the world’s largest Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization with over 1.7 million members in some 13,000 local councils in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guam, Guatemala, Panama, the Virgin Islands, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and Saipan. It is dedicated to Church, community, family, and youth programs. Last year individual Knights spent 64 million hours in volunteer services and the Order donated $143.8 million in charitable contributions. Members of the K of C also spent almost 6 million hours visiting the sick and bereaved and delivered 9.5 million hours in fraternal services to them. Additionally 393,807 Knights were blood donors. The New Jersey Knights donated $4,568,772 to charities last year.
