Velocity 17, a racing experience you won’t forget
The most exciting part of the press tour to me was the indoor karting/racing track. I had to show my driver’s license at the registration desk, after passing, received a red wristband which admitted me to the track area. Pedro Fernandez, the track Location Manager took me under his wing and helped me through the preliminaries.
First I had to go into the Training Room where our group was shown a short video dealing with the various color flags and the safety requirements. After viewing that, we were given a green wristband that showed we were okay to go. Along with that we were given a headsock and instructed to select a helmet in sizes that range from Small to XXXXL. Pedro helped me to locate my size, kinda large! Getting into the Kart almost required a shoehorn, getting out necessitated a strong helping hand.
Racing at a speed of 30 mph may not seem too fast, but the 1,600 feet of turns including some hairpin turns appears to multiply when in the driver’s seat. Being of the opinion that I could ace the track, it was astonishing to be constantly flag waved over to a side as Kart’s flew by me at seemingly breakneck speeds. When the time was up, I felt as though I had raced in the Indy trials, thus the need for the assist in unraveling from the low slung seat.
Please understand that you are reading an offering from a callous amusement rider. Attuned to the outdoor amusement industry, I have been on almost every major ride. Be it rollercoasters, parachute drops, bungee style rides, bumper cars, twister and turners, I have always sought the thriller ride. Velocity 17 surpasses just about everything that I have experienced.
Visiting the Simulator Rooms was interesting and hopefully, I will be able to go back and assess each feature. If they are anything like the karting track, it will be a WOW experience.
Their corporate facilities for conferences and parties are also world-class. An excellent getaway from the daily humdrum, employees treated to this facility are sure to come back singing its praise.
