The Grand Lux Cafe
Tuesday, they held a ribbon cutting ceremony presided over by founder/CEO David Overton and assisted by Howard Gordon, Senior Vice President of Corporate Communication and Marketing. Invited were Mayor James Tedesco, Senator Joe Coniglio, Paramus Council Members, Phillip St. Pierre, Mall Manger, the Chamber of Commerce and members of the press.
After the ceremony, the invited guests were treated to a tour of the facilities before sitting down to an absolutely delicious meal. I sat with Linda Panagio, Account Executive for the Town News, Fred Rohdieck and Jennifer Padolina from both the Chamber and Paramus Rotary.
To test their offerings, we were allowed a limited selection which varied from table to table. We ordered the Southwestern Salad, Pan Roasted Chicken Breast, Pasta Pomodoro and a Yankee Pot Roast Sandwich. Arriving first were some nachos and various dips, salads and then the entrees along with freshly made bread. This was followed by warm New Orleans Beignets with sauces and a deep dark Fudge Cake with ice cream and deliciously fresh brewed coffee.
General Manager Robert Bennett came over several times to check up on our satisfaction level as did Overton and Gordon. Each table server was accompanied by a supervisor brought in from one of their many food operations. Since the servers were in training, practicing for perfection, the supervisors were handy to have along.
I asked Bob a poignant question.’ Looking at the menu, your prices seem to be higher than most of the chains.’ Without hesitation, he answered that they use top quality meats and the portions are very large. I can attest to that because my Yankee Pot Roast was delectable and we all took doggy bags home.
If the Grand Lux Café can keep serving such great foods, they are sure to be a success.
