Curious to see how the Grand Lux Café has fared since it’s opening a week ago this past Thursday, I visited the establishment. It’s amazing as to how well the place has progressed.

Arriving at 5:30, the place was just starting to fill up.

One of the smiling hostesses brought us to a window booth and we were served warm bread, butter and water at once. Karina, our pretty waitress came over, introduced herself, gave us some time to select from the menu before taking our order. We ordered the Carolina B.B.Q. Pork Sandwich and the Warm Pot Roast Sandwich served with the accoutrements.

Both were delicious!

A few minor glitches, the warm bread served was a sourdough type and just wasn’t to my liking. My French Fries although ordered well done had to be returned and came back just starting to be well done, but much better than before. Service Manager Daniel Markscheid paid us a visit to make sure that we were satisfied. When he learned of my French fry specification, he immediately offered to have them replaced. The offer was sincere but since I wasn’t going to eat too many of them, I declined.

One order of the New Orleans beignets was enough to make me forget any problems. Served with three sauces, they were absolutely delicious and worth the 12 -15 minute wait while they were prepared. Karina mentioned that we could have ordered them in advance so that they would be ready for us.

As we were leaving, (with a doggy bag) the Grand Lux Café was rapidly filling up.
