Garden Party
Sunday, September 16th weather stayed beautifully true to Bright Side Manor’s 3rd Annual Garden Party. Held under a tent, this party celebrated the naming of the Bill McDowell Gazebo in his memory. Bill had obtained the gazebo from his friend, Joe Sanzari, when he learned from Executive Director Elizabeth Davis that there was a need for one. Honoring his memory were State Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson, Freeholder Vice-Chairwoman Elizabeth Calabrese and Bergen County Human Services Director, Dr, Valerie Williams Dargan.

The dignitaries presented plaques to the attending McDowell family in honor of the former Bright Side Board Chairman. The family was welcomed by present Chairwoman, Gloria Layne as well as Davis.

Mrs. Davis thanked the people who were there and also the individuals and firms who had donated goods and services to help make the function a success. Among them was Marge Mazzo, Social Director, who celebrated her birthday among her friends at Bright Side. Larry SooHoo of Legacy Music Entertainment Group once again donated his services and equipment. He also provided a soft musical background during the ceremonies.

When Elizabeth Calabrese learned that the Bright Side Manor piano had not yet been tuned, she promised to check with Chairman Tomas Padilla and make sure that it was done. www.ParamusPost.com was thanked by members of the Bright Side staff for the coverage of Padilla’s visit there in August and for the musical video showing the Bright Side clients singing.
