At the Paramus Rotary Club meeting, Detectives Tom Schroeder and Bob Guidetti from the Paramus Police Department and Detective Mike Lemanowicz from the Lyndhurst Police Department teamed up to present a program on Computer Fraud. They described how predators work and suggested open space computer areas.

Open space areas allow for parental guidance. It opens up a chance to have candid discussions with your children and could help prevent them from fraudulent contacts on the Internet.

Identity Theft, absurd offers and lurking predators are some of the topics discussed. The government Do Not Call List was mentioned, but information regarding renewal instructions are yet to be posted. It is thought that the United States Government may automatically renew those on the present list.

E-mail, bank contact, Social Security number requests, computer checks, credit cards, bank refunds or deposits that may reveal your personal ID and accounts methods were also described.

If it’s too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. You may open your personal information to nefarious perpetrators by going along with their schemes.
