Paramus Community Health Day
The Board of Health consisting of Pres. Mary Ann Siniscalhi, VP Sharon, Hayo, Louis Cotroneo, Kathleen Rinaldi, Frank Ohlendorf and Health Officer John Hopper held the Annual Community Health Day at the Life Safety Building on Carlough Drive in Paramus. Among the services offered were:
Blood Pressure by the BoH, Skin Cancer by Drs Suneel Chilukuri and Iris Kopeloff, Oral Cancer by Drs Marc Rosenblum and Michael Yeun, Breast Cancer by Dr. Marie DeVita, Hearing Evaluation by the Audiology Assoc. of North Jersey, Deborah Orlan-Marcus, MD, Vision Screening by Drs Donald and Mitchell Saferstein, Podiatric Screening by Drs Faye Woomer and Mark Nathanson, Colorectal Cancer by the BoH and Chair Massage by Anthony DellaVecchia, All services were free of charge!
Seniors were allowed to register for the Flu and Pneumococcal Vaccination Program to be given to Senior Citizens (65+) and chronically ill residents at Boro Hall on Saturday, October 27th. For those that missed it, they can call 201 649 0755 to register. They will need their Medicare card when calling and also when visiting the Boro Hall.
There was a central room where all types of literature was available as well as personnel like Police Officer Cheryl Avognano for DARE, The Fire Prevention Bureau, Shade Tree & Parks, hospital representatives and other health related venues. Promoting a healthy lifestyle was the BoH offering tasty veggie burgers samples to the hungry seniors.
Available in the parking lot was a Community Blood Services bus giving visitors the opportunity donate blood for a worthy cause.
