Freeholder Chairman Tomas Padilla keeps his promise!

Some of you may remember back in August when Chairman Tomas Padilla visited Bright Side Manor in Teaneck.  At that time, I asked Tom Padilla to get the piano tuned, it was so off key. (and not because of his singing!)

Time dragged on, and I even spoke to Vice Chairperson Liz Calabrese about it bemoaning the fact that it hadn't been done.

Upon checking with Erika Dankovits, LSW, CALA, Assistant Administrator at Bright Side Manor, I learned recently that the piano had been tuned. I have to go there to hear my friend Hazel Snell play it again.

Erika couldn't give me the details and attempts to reach Padilla went unanswered. Election time is a terrible time to try and get news like this. I even asked my friend Connie Wagner to step in to no avail. Of course Connie is as busy as Tomas.

Today, I saw the Chairman and went up to him. I had to wring out of him the fact that he had paid for the tuning out of his own pocket. He demurred about giving his deed publicity, but I feel that Freeholder Chairman Tomas Padilla should get the full credit for such an unassuming deed.

Thank you Tom!

ADDENDUM

After writing this story, I travelled over to Teaneck to Bright Side Manor to hear Hazel play the piano. Marge Mazzo was there and she assembled a group of the residents who were clamoring to hear Hazel play. Hazel obliged and had everyone joining in. A happy group. I just wish that Mr. Padilla could have been there to see what his warm heart accomplished.
