Eileen McDowell, Director of the Joseph Cipolla Senior Center was pleased with the turnout and results of the Open House held Sunday, November 18th. The room was set up by club tables as well as one for Tax Assessor Jim Anzevino. There was activity at almost all of them.

About 75 people attended this special event. Among the regulars were newcomers who were interested in finding out the information offered by the various organizations. www.ParamusPost.com sat at an unmarked table and was joined by two newcomers Charlie and Ida Lo Bue. Introducing ourselves by first name, we chatted. Ida asked me my last name and suddenly it was familiar to her.

That wasn't too strange because the Fabrikants brought up 5 children within the Paramus School system. Sure enough, their daughter, Nina, had gone to school with our Mindy. Ina and I had never met the parents, but did know Nina. That made the encounter even more interesting.

I directed Charlie over to the AARP table, but we were too busy when Jim Anzevino tried to pay our group a visit. Charlie was elated when he learned that there were two bocci courts in the back. I explained that Paramus Rotary and the Shade Tree and Parks Department had collaborated on it a few years ago.

Marie Salamón, a former Olympian and a Professional Yoga Instructor came over to the table and introduced the program she presents at the Center Wednesday & Friday at 9 AM as well as Monday evening at 7 PM.

McDowell served refreshments and the attendees were only too willing to help them disappear.
