Nov. 2007 Mayor & Council meeting
Three championship teams from Paramus High School were honored at the meeting. Mayor Tedesco, Council President Frank Ciambrone , Board of Education President Mario Sicari, Coaches and High School staff presented the awards to these teenagers.
Honored were the Boys and Girls Soccer teams and the Volley Ball teams.
On hand to receive these awards were 28 team members out of a total of about 65. Those that did appear received appreciation and Commendations from Mayor Tedesco. Many of them had also been in the Paramus Recreation activities in their younger days.
Deputy Chief Richard Cary was on hand to commend a person who had acted to save someone in distress. There seemed to be a problem because the person never appeared.
Councilwoman Wagner made a motion to forgo the Mayor & Council Reports due to the long Commendation ceremonies. It was passed with alacrity since there would have been another hour or so added to the long program.
Pat O'Brien, a local resident, passed out copies of a letter he and many others had received about the property dubbed the Soldier Hill Wetlands. Pat explained that there was no signature, no responsible party cited nor was the mailing envelope a clue. It appears to have stemmed from someone who wants to build on these wetlands and stressed the fact that they were contaminated and not 'pristine and in its natural state.'.
The Mayor nor members of the Environmental Commission were aware of this notice that was mailed out to a select group.
Mayor James Tedesco announced that the Reorganization Meeting would take place on January 2nd, 2008 at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers.
