Wednesday afternoon, a bunch of Rotarians from the Paramus Club under the direction of Kevin Behnke converged upon the Veteran's Home in Paramus. As Tom Ciaiffa explained to me, Veteran's Bingo is different from regular Bingo.

Ken Sorenson did the calling while Gloria, his wife, and others circulated among the mobile and wheelchair bound occupants. Roy Borgeson, Marty Diamond, Lee Rickenberg and club president Maryann Siniscalchi were among those helping the more immobile vets to make sure that they heard and marked the correct numbers.

According to Ciaiffa, who acted as paymaster, Bingo was played in sets, not singular games. The set continued after the first Bingo was announced and lasted for more card numbers called. This solved the problem of immobility. Paramus Police Captain Kevin Smith, Ray Wells, Chamber president Fred Rohdieck , Linda Port, Ray Wells, Jim Mangam, Ed Lang and Frank Garcia were among the Rotarians circulating the floor and helping to make this occasion a success.

www.ParamusPost.com publisher and Rotarian Sam Stone was on hand to take pictures of this event. I hope that Sam didn't have as much of a problem as Rotarian Chip Philibosian and I had in locating the hall where the Bingo was held. Chip asked for directions at the entry desk and then we traversed the maze. At almost every nurse's desk, we had to ask for further directions until we finally, arrived about ten minutes later, where we were greeted by the Kevins, Behnke and Smith.

Maybe next time, either Behnke or the Vet's Home will supply a maze map?
