Still in a wheelchair - almost

Well ... I thought wrong! Thought the cast would come off of the foot and I would be able to go ... in the car ... Shop Rite, KMart, Kohl's, wherever. Wanted the foot to reacquaint with the brake and gas pedals after 3 months of non-use.
Today the cast was removed but replaced with a dumb shoe boot that hurts like hell when I walk on it! How can one walk on a lump under the arch of the foot (of which I have no arch)? If Dr Kenneth Levitsky, Ortho Surgeon, Rt 4, Fairlawn wasn't so cute, I would have challenged him ... how can you walk on such a lumpy, oversized boot?!
It is quite amusing the way doctor acknowledges my daughter first ... then me! He must be thinking "you sure have your hands full" with this bad patient! Worst in the world ... I admit it!
The good thing is I can finally wash the leprosy-looking skin that's been under the cast for 12 weeks. The Xrays tell doctor all is progressing as it should ... however, this patient no longer has any patience left for this fusion to heal! Just wanting to get into my car and go, and to walk ... is that asking too much? Doctor Levitsky said that sometimes it takes 6 months for a fusion to heal! God, give me patience ... right now!
Hey, I'm delighted that I can somewhat walk with the walker and the Canadian crutches that my friend gave to me, but the wheelchair is so much easier ~ at the moment!
Life's looking up ~ getting better!
