For the 2nd straight year Paramus Surgical Center was awarded the J. D. Power & Associates award of excellence for providing "An Outstanding Outpatient Experience". Located at 30 West Century Road, Suite 300. To celebrate this honor, the award festivities was held at South City Grille on Route 17 South in Rochelle Park
The award ceremony was held Tuesday in a combined celebration with a privately held Holiday Party recognizing “a job well done.” Not only was the award accepted by PSC's Thomas P Ragukonis MD, Steven M. Stolber MD, Nicholas Alexander MD and Emmanuel Haber, DPM who were on hand to receive the award but this was promptly turned over to the backbone of the organization, Judy Boehm, RN, CASC, their Director of Nursing.
Paramus Surgical Center located at 30 West Century Road, Suite 300, Paramus, NJ, was the first free-standing ambulatory surgery center in the nation to be recognized by J.D. Power and Associates (a global marketing information firm) to receive their award of excellence for providing “An Outstanding Outpatient Experience.” It comes as no surprise that the most prestigious of healthcare accolades has been received for an unprecedented second year in a row.
The patient has spoken, J. D. Power and Associates listens as does the staff at Paramus Surgical Center. The service excellence distinction was determined by surveying patients who had recently received outpatient services from Paramus Surgical Center on their perceptions of their outpatient visit. The patients were surveyed on many attributes that support the five key dimensions that drive a superior outpatient experience–dignity and respect, speed and efficiency, comfort, information and communication, and emotional support. The survey results clearly show that Paramus Surgical Center exceeds the established national patient satisfaction benchmark and has, therefore, earned recognition as a Distinguished Outpatient Center.
Free standing, independent surgical centers are the twenty-first Century’s contribution to the medical field. An Ambulatory Surgery Center, or ASC in medical-speak, is a facility where surgeries that do not require hospital admission are performed. An ASC may provide cost-effective services and a convenient environment that is less stressful than what many hospitals can offer. Fear of complications, unnecessary exposure to disease, prolonged hospital stay, endless red tape and financial burden has greatly discouraged the patient from the established hospital environment.
Patients who choose to have surgery in an ASC arrive on the day of their procedure, have their surgery in a fully equipped operating room and recover under the care of highly skilled nurses, all without hospital admission. Whether they are young or old or somewhere in between, patients and their families benefit from the comfortable environment an ASC renders.
“Well into the second year of our dynamic ongoing initiative that sees us literally Defining Quality ambulatory healthcare not only in our region but the nation as well, has had many rewards, “ says Judy Boehm, RN, CASC, and Director of Nursing at PSC. “Just recently completing the accreditation process again, we are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). “
“This honor and all that may follow are a reflection of our entire organization’s commitment to providing our patients with nothing less than the best. After all, it is our entire team of dedicated healthcare professionals that make each patient experience ‘outstanding’,” she concludes.
With consumers increasingly seeking more and better information in order to make educated healthcare decisions, Paramus Surgical Center’s Distinguished status helps reinforce consumer confidence in our ambulatory center’s commitment to providing high levels of quality outpatient care. It is an honor to know so many people believe in our care. The best part of this recognition is that it comes from you, our patients. Thank you.
