The Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC) Foundation recently hosted its annual recognition event “An Evening at 7 World Trade Center,” one of the two buildings across from the World Trade Center site, in New York, NY.
The medical center offered its guests an incredible view, from the 52nd floor, of a spectacular golden Harvest moon, gracing the famed nighttime skies of all of Manhattan, which complemented a cocktail reception, seated tasting with wine pairing, and dancing.
“We are truly delighted for the opportunity to join together for this magnificent evening,” said John P. Ferguson, president and chief executive officer at the medical center. “This is our fifteenth year celebrating with our friends and supporters in New York City, and it’s a pride shared by every member of the HUMC team as we continue to strive toward making our new Cancer Center a reality.”
The event netted more than $900,000 toward the construction of a new Cancer Center being planned for the HUMC campus. The Cancer Center at HUMC is home to New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive cancer center program. Each year, more patients from our state come here than to any other facility in New Jersey for cancer care.
The Cancer Center comprises 14 specialized divisions, featuring teams of experts for each specific type of cancer. A physician directs each of the divisions with significant clinical and research expertise in the type of cancer. This approach which brings together a close-knit team of medical, research, nursing, and supportive staff with specialized expertise translates into more advanced, focused care for patients. The divisions are: Breast Oncology, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, Head and Neck Cancer, Leukemia, Lymphoproliferative Disorders, Multiple Myeloma, Neuro-Oncology, Skin and Cellular Medicine, Stem Cell Transplantation, Supportive Care and Pain Control, Thoracic Oncology, Urologic Oncology, and Research.
