Registration is underway for a variety of winter programs at the Paramus Public Library held from late January through mid-March. At the Main and Reid Branch libraries, storytimes will be held every day of the week for children as young as 12 months through age 5. Registration is by phone (Main Library 201/599-1309, Reid Branch 201/444-4911) or in person. For a complete schedule, parents may visit the library or go to its website at www.paramuslibrary.org.
On Wednesday evenings, drop-in Family Nights continue at the main library, where stories, crafts, filmstrips and crafts are the main attractions. Pajamas and teddy bears are welcome! “After School Stories and Crafts” will take place at both the Main and Reid Branch Libraries, with registration one week prior to each program. At the Reid Branch Library, “After School Picture Bingo” is offered every Monday and Friday for children ages 4 through 6th grade. No registration is required.
On Thursday, January 24th, the library will celebrate the 40th anniversary of “Corduroy” the Bear with a party at the main library at 1:15pm, and an after-school party at the Reid branch. A special Valentine’s Party will be offered from 3:45pm-4:45pm at the Main Library on Thursday, February 14th, and a special Valentine’s Card Workshop will be offered at the Reid Branch Library after school February 5th-February 8th. Registration is required for all the above events.
Teens will also find a lot to do at the library this winter, beginning at the Main library with Teen Advisory Board meetings on 1/28 and 2/25. Then join us for the Valentine Open House on February 14 at 2:30pm, with hot chocolate, snacks, and Valentine’s Day cards galore; an Alex Rider book discussion group on 2/20 and 3/12; a Little Women book and movie discussion group on 3/10 and 3/17; and a “Mystery Night” to solve ” The Disappearance of Angela Day” on 3/14. Finally “Teen Craft Workshops” at the main library, and “Anime Clubs” and “Teen Wednesdays” at the Reid branch library, should fill their busy datebooks from January through March 2008.
