Noted Intelligent Design Supporter to Lecture, 2/14

Dr. Michael Behe
Professor of Biochemistry Dr. Michael Behe (Lehigh University) - a scientist and supporter of intelligent design - will visit Bergen Community College for a guest lecture on Thursday, February 14, 2008 from 1:40 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Moses Family Meeting and Training Center (Technology Education Center, Room 128), 400 Paramus Road, Paramus. Intelligent design, the belief crediting the creation of the universe and life to an "intelligent agent" rather than to a purely naturalistic evolutionally process, has sparked controversy throughout the scientific community, U.S. courts and the public at large.
The author of many prominent works on the topic, Dr. Behe's discussion titled "Intelligent Design in Biology and the Limits of Darwinism" will focus on his work that has found many complex biochemical systems possess components inexplicable through evolution. He believes an intelligent agent remains responsible for these complex systems. Through his lecture, the professor aims to educate his audience on the topic of intelligent design but encourages individuals to come to their own conclusions.

Dr. Behe comes to Bergen as part of the Office of Student Life's "Spring 2008 Distinguished Speaker Series." For additional information on the event, please contact the Office of Student Life at 201-447-7215.
