Paramus Breakfast Club encounters an electrifying movement

Richard K. (Buzz) Dressel
At the 2nd meeting of the brand new provisional Rotary Club, member Richard K. (Buzz) Dressel decided that the noise in the open space meeting area was not conducive to conducting a good meeting. A man of action, Buzz suggested that we move to the IBEW Local 164 Boardroom on Robin and W. Century Roads. To back up his idea, he contributed $1,000.00 to help the club get started. WOW!The Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center had graciously offered their Food Court area to help the fledgling club get started. It just wasn't conducive to holding a meeting in the open. We thanked Lisa Herrmann and Westfield for their generosity, but we just could not pass up the generous offer we had received.

Provisional President Anthony Iacono managed to get a partial slate of officers and directors to start the club on its way. Mukesh Malkan volunteered to become Vice President and Valerie Coniglio promised him a waiting list of good speakers, one of the VP's jobs. Eileen McDowell was already taking notes when she was volunteered to be Secretary. Gary Spivak became Treasurer and Valerie 'outranked' Deputy Chief Rick Cary when she became Sergeant at Arms.

Rick had a choice and he is now Director of Community Service. Liz Mason opted for International Director. These positions were explained by District Governor Joe Laureni before the choices were made. DGN Dominic Jengo was asked and later supplied us with the fee/dues set up that had to be met. Chief of Staff John Mosca brought material from the DG meeting the evening before plus much needed District Directories.

Our first hands on Community Project .. planting flowers at the Walter Behnke Senior Housing Complex was unanimously approved with the DG offering some 'seed' money. Westfield GSP's Lisa Herrmann generously offered to help out with flowers and even volunteered to help plant them in the springtime.

Believe it or not, www.ParamusPost.com's Publisher, Sam Stone nor the Chief Reporter, yours truly, had their camera's with them to take pictures of the generous offers.
