During a March 3, 2008 evening ceremony, Bergen Community College's honor society, the Alpha Epsilon Phi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, inducted 94 students onto its rolls. The College's president, G. Jeremiah Ryan, said the students represent a dedicated group of individuals.

"Once again, we are honoring a select group of students who have risen to the top of their classes," President Ryan said. "We look to these young men and women to serve as role models for Bergen Community College as they continue to produce academic and civic excellence." For inclusion into the honor society, most new student members must obtain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.9 to 4.0. Active members must maintain a 3.5 GPA to remain in the organization. The Bergen chapter of the honor society was chartered in 1979.
