Expo 2008 to Highlight Latest Technology and Methods

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164, along with Graybar Electric, is hosting an Electrical, Security and Telecom Expo for skilled workers, contractors and industry professionals throughout the New York-metro area on Thursday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The free event, which is being held at Local 164’s Training Academy, located at 65 W. Century Rd., in Paramus, N.J., will feature seminars and workshops demonstrating a wide range of cutting-edge technology being implemented at some of New Jersey’s leading construction projects.
“This event has been designed as an intensive, hands-on opportunity for attendees to engage in one-on-one learning and discussions with manufacturers,” said John DeBouter, Local 164’s training director and president. “Expo 2008 is an extension of IBEW Local 164’s educational and safety initiatives to enhance knowledge among all those involved in construction, from contractors, engineers and project managers, to electricians, telecom workers and even end-users.”

Featured workshops include building automation, power monitoring, seismic bracing, tools, test equipment, splicing, terminations, security, NFPA 70E, CCTV, cable and cable raceway, switches, wiring devices and benders. Each will be led by Graybar and Square D representatives and/or other leading manufacturers such as 3M, Belden, Everfocus, Mohawk, Wiremold, Lutron, Greenlee Klein, Hubbell and Fluke.

IBEW Local 164 provides integral services that elevate skilled expertise among its more than 3,900 members, including electricians in Bergen, Hudson and Essex counties and telecommunications technicians contracted throughout the state of New Jersey. Graybar is a Fortune 500 company specializing in supply chain management services and the distribution of electrical and telecommunications equipment and materials.
