The Northern New Jersey Region of Hadassah hosted a private dinner and boat cruise Sunday evening, April 6th, sailing from Weehawken on the CITYLights Cruises yacht “Atlantica.” The event featured a 3 hour Manhattan skyline cruise, kosher dinner, dancing to the DJ and their esteemed guest speaker, Marlene Post, Past National President of Hadassah, who gave an update on medical conditions in Jerusalem.
All invited guests had given a minimum donation of $360 towards the construction of a new, state of the art hospital, the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower, to ensure that Hadassah Medical Organization continues to meet the changing needs of medical treatment and stay on the cutting edge of research to benefit current and future generations. Hadassah has always prided itself in being proactive in meeting Israel’s needs as well as humanitarian needs in the region and world-wide. The Israeli government is partnering with HMO, promising to provide 13.5% of the projected $210 million cost. The completion date is slated for 2012 to coincide with Hadassah’s 100th anniversary.
The Northern NJ Region of Hadassah was able to raise substantially more donations thanks to the generosity of past Region President, Lonye Rasch, and her husband, Stephen, who pledged to donate matching funds, up to $72,000, for new pledges of $360 up to $1800, designated for the Tower Campaign. It was their vision and desire to offer a special way for as many people as possible to share in the excitement of this historical campaign which will run only until the $72,000 is totally drawn upon. Over $130,000 has been raised by the Northern New Jersey Region of Hadassah.
