Bergen and Mercy College Sign Transfer Agreement

Dr. G. Jeremiah Ryan, President of Bergen Community College, and Dr. Michael Sperling, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. recently signed a formal Transfer Articulation Agreement for Mercy's Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Industry and Technology.

Under the terms of this agreement, Bergen students who follow the prescribed degree pattern and earn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) Degree in Fine and Performing Arts with options in Music Business, Computer Based Recording or Electronic Music, will have completed credits toward a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Music Industry and Technology.

Mercy College will accept a maximum of 75 credit hours from Bergen students. Additionally, Bergen graduates who apply to Mercy College under the terms of the agreement will have the admission application fee waived.

Bergen currently has 80 articulation agreements with more than 25 four-year colleges and universities and offers over 40 A.A. and A.S. transfer programs.

"This agreement with Mercy College will allow our students to continue their professional education in preparation for careers in the music industry," said Professor Jean Goldstein, Articulation Coordinator at Bergen.

This transfer agreement was made possible due to the collaborative and cooperative efforts of faculty at Bergen and Mercy, including Bergen Professor of Music, Andrew Krikun, Program Director at Mercy, Paul Steinman, and Dean for Transfer Programs and Articulation at Mercy, Shelley Alkin.
