Meeting # 11 – Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club

Exciting news took place today. District Governor Joe Laureni and member Tom Wells will get together to get our Charter papers in order so that they can be sent to Rotary International. This would make us the 50th Club in District 7490. Our Gala Chairperson, Valerie Coniglio, has arranged for a night at Sanzari's on June 23rd to celebrate.

Val has called for a committee meeting right after our next regular meeting. In the meantime, member Hemish Kapedia is arranging for the awards. The fascinating part is that he is leaving for five weeks in India with Sushil, his father and also a member. Hemish will be in touch from India where he will live up to his obligations. He promised to return in time for the Gala.

Under the guidance of DG Joe Laureni and our District Liaison, John Mosca, this provisional club voted to adopt the official By-Laws as set by Rotary International. We also discussed our Community Service project, the planting at the Walter Behnke Senior Housing Complex. There is now a sign at the floral garden and unbeknownst to us, the flowers were contributed by Greenland Nurseries.

Sophie Stone reported that our club website is almost completed. Treasurer Gary Spivak gave a financial report and collected some dues. We welcomed visiting Rotarians, Sharon Flynn, Lois & Jerry Horowitz.

Last week during his address to the club, John Mosca remarked that our president was kind of Loosey Goosey. Since we follow our president's actions, I guess we could be dubbed 'The Loosey Goosey Club'!
